The
coast road from Marsala to Trapani is flanked almost all the way by salt
pans and at Trapani actually leads right across them. There you can admire
the crystallization of the salt and watch its collection from June to
September, but all the year round you will see the characteristic tile-covered
salt heaps that line the pans and their barge canals.
